I know a lot more now than I used to. It seems that way at least. Who knows? I mean the false bravado and courage of being a young adult pales beside the cunning of the oldster. You begin to get a sense of your own history a little bit, and that gives you an edge. The world doesn’t have to get you down, though. You can embrace it.
I don’t know that I’ll find enlightenment in this lifetime, but I would welcome it if I did. I’ve heard it said that when a person becomes enlightened, they remember all their past lives. What would that be like? My guess is that you realize the sources of your ‘karma.’I remember an old R. Crumb cartoon where meatballs were randomly falling out of the sky, and if you were hit by one of the meatballs, you were enlightened. The cartoon drawings as I remember them implied an opening of the third eye as well. Imagine that – tapping into enlightenment.
